Cal Poly Career Fair Prep Night

On January 15, 2018, SLO YMF joined with Cal Poly ITE, SCE, and SENVE to host a mock-interview session and presentation on the interview and hiring process to prepare the students for their upcoming Career Fair!

Ugly Sweater Party at the SLO Holiday Parade

On December 7, 2018, SLO YMF busted out their ugliest holiday sweaters and enjoyed some food, festivities, and the 43rd Annual San Luis Obispo Holiday Parade.

Wine and Paint Party

On November 16, 2018, SLO YMF had a wine and paint party at Cannon. YMF members enjoyed some wine as they were instructed by the infamous Bob Ross on how to paint a landscape scene (including how to paint some "happy little trees" and how to "beat the devil" out of their paintbrushes).

West Creek Development Tour

On October 18, 2018, SLO YMF toured the West Creek development project. The West Creek development project is a portion of the larger Orcutt Area Specific Plan that will develop a broad range of residential unit types along Orcutt Road in San Luis Obispo near the intersection with Johnson Avenue. 

First Day of Fall Hike

On September 22nd, 2018, SLO YMF and friends welcomed the beginning of fall with a beautiful hike. SLO YMF conquered the Ontario Ridge Trail hike while soaking in the beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. We even got to see the location of a local project and got a little insight into the future roundabout.

Pismo Pier Tour

Constructed in 1924, the Pismo Pier was opened to the public. 93 years later, the Pier Rehabilitation project began. On August 17, 2018, SLO YMF took a private tour of the final construction stages of the rehab project. The rehab is estimated at $8.8 million and will include a new electrical system, water line for fire protection, upgraded lighting, benches, tables, and other public amenities.

Cal Poly SCE & SLO YMF Pizza Party

On May 23, 2018, SLO YMF joined with Cal Poly's SCE chapter for a pizza party at Mustang Station. YMF members and students enjoyed some slices of pizza and drinks. It was an opportunity for students to talk to industry professionals.

Point Buchon Hike

On April 21, 2018, SLO YMF enjoyed a scenic hike behind the Diablo Canyon Power Plant. The trail stretched for 6.6 miles and members got to chat while witnessing the beauty of the spring wildflowers.

Cal Poly ​yakʔitʸutʸu Dorm Tour

On March 29, 2018, SLO YMF and SLO Branch got a close up look at the construction of the new dorms at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. These new dorms, inspired by the neighboring Chumash reservation, have 7 buildings, 1,475 beds, 492 parking stalls, and costs $198M. This new housing complex will also contain the welcome center to Cal Poly SLO for future students. The project expects to be completed by Fall 2018.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

On February 22, 2018, YMF hosted "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day" at Cannon in San Luis Obispo. YMF worked with the Girl Scouts of Central Coast to invite Girl Scouts all the way from Lompoc to Atascadero. The Girl Scouts had the opportunity to learn about civil, structural, transportation, electrical, and computer engineering.

Firestone Walker Wastewater Treatment Tour

Firestone Walker recently built a waste water treatment plant at their Paso Robles location. SLO YMF and SLO Branch members were able to take a very special tour. They learned about how beer was made to made to how the beer waste was treated.
